Zachary Tracer is an award-winning journalist and editor who focuses on business, healthcare, and investigations. He specializes in building and managing high-performing teams of reporters and editors who consistently deliver scoops and features that readers can’t find anywhere else.

Zach was most recently the deputy editor for investigations at Business Insider. Before that, he ran Business Insider’s healthcare team for five years.

He began his career at Bloomberg News, where he first covered life/P&C insurance companies, and then moved to the healthcare beat. As a healthcare reporter, Zach covered U.S. health insurers and health policy, including the battle to repeal the Affordable Care Act.  He’s also written about emerging markets, renewable energy, and the tech industry.

Zach studied Russian history at Duke University, focusing on the revolutionary period from 1917 to 1921. His thesis explored how Russian anarchists came to partner with Bolsheviks to build a strong dictatorship under Vladimir Lenin.
